Environmental Compliance
Your challenge for a good cause!
Many distributors, manufacturers or importers are sometimes not even aware of the obligations they are subject to as part of the extended manufacturer or producer responsibility. In this article, you will learn what exactly must be observed in environmental compliance and how we can help you.
From 2023, deposits are to be levied on single-use plastic bottles and refillable glass bottles in Poland
What is already standard in Germany is also to be implemented in Poland in the future. It is planned to charge a deposit on non-refillable plastic bottles of up to 3.0 liters and refillable glass bottles of up to 1.5 liters, probably from January 1, 2023. Unlike in this country, aluminum cans are initially exempt from the regulation. However, the introduction of a can deposit is not ruled out for the future.
The basis for this is the draft law presented by the Polish Ministry of the Environment on January 31, which provides for the introduction of a nationwide deposit system. The primary goal is to reduce the amount of waste generated and to achieve a high quality of waste for recycling.
A fee could be charged when the products are sold, which would then have to be refunded when the empty packaging is returned. There is to be no obligation to introduce a deposit system. However, companies that put the above-mentioned packaging into circulation are to be obliged to achieve a defined collection quota. If the quota is not reached, the companies have to pay a fee. This corresponds to a deposit obligation through the back door.
After the labeling obligation (Triman logo & sorting instructions) for household packaging in France, the obligations for electrical and electronic products (WEEE), batteries & accumulators but also furniture and textiles have now also been announced by the take-back systems.
For (almost) all EPR categories, the gradual introduction of the Triman logo and sorting instructions is now beginning in France. The aim of this labeling is to inform the consumer about the proper disposal of the product. For furniture and textiles, there is also an indication of an environmentally friendly alternative, such as return to the store or donation to a charitable organization.
Since 01.01.2022 it is additionally forbidden in France to "scrap" unsold goods. These must be donated.
