Attention Single-Use Plastic Manufacturers: The german Single-Use Plastic Fund is here!
Who is affected?
Starting from January 1, 2024, new regulations apply to single-use plastic manufacturers and first-time distributors in Germany. They are required to pay a fee into the Single-Use Plastic Fund, which is managed by the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and processed through the DIVID platform.
Contributing to the cleanliness of public spaces
The Single-Use Plastic Fund covers the disposal costs of single-use plastic waste in streets and parks. Manufacturers pay a fee based on the type and quantity of their products, which is then distributed to cities, municipalities, and public organizations.
The role of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA)
The Federal Environment Agency plays a central role in managing the Single-Use Plastic Fund. Starting from the year 2025, the UBA determines the amount of fees for individual manufacturers and ensures the fair distribution of funds to the respective organizations.
Is your company ready for the Single-Use Plastic Fund?
If you are a manufacturer or first-time distributor of single-use plastic products in Germany, your company falls under the Single-Use Plastic Fund Act and must register with the Federal Environment Agency.

Hungary: New Obligations for Manufacturers under the EPR System
Comprehensive changes to the Hungarian EPR system will come into effect on July 1, 2023. These expand the responsibility of manufacturers for environmentally relevant products and affect all first-time distributors and manufacturers of products falling under the EPR system.
The EPR system operates in parallel with the existing environmental product fee paid to Hungarian tax authorities. A new regulation (80/2023) by the Hungarian government establishes the EPR setup and rules for various product sectors.
Which products are affected?
The EPR system applies to first-time distributors, among others, of electrical and electronic devices, batteries, packaging, single-use and other plastic products, vehicles, tires, office paper, advertisement paper, cooking oil and fat, textile products, and wooden furniture.
What does this mean for your company?
Companies involved in the manufacturing or importation of affected products must complete two registrations by May 31, 2023:
Registration on the electronic platform of the National Waste Management Authority, OKIRkapu.
It is crucial for companies to understand the new obligations under the Hungarian EPR system and take timely action to ensure compliance with the regulations. But don't worry, we are here to help. Click the button below to submit a free inquiry.
Time is running out: WEEE numbers must be registered on online marketplaces soon
Germany - By July 1, 2023, WEEE numbers must be registered for listings of electrical and electronic devices on online marketplaces. Otherwise, there is a risk of your listings being suspended in Germany.
According to legal requirements, operators of electronic marketplaces are obligated to ensure that sellers are properly registered.
Sellers must take action now
If you are a seller and have already received a WEEE number from the german ear Foundation (stiftung ear), it is now important to identify the marketplaces where you offer your electrical and electronic devices for the german market and register the corresponding WEEE number there.
Don't have a WEEE number yet? Apply for it now!
To avoid negative consequences such as the suspension of your sales listings, it is crucial to promptly apply for your WEEE number. Act now to meet the requirements and continue your business smoothly.
Turkish WEEE Regulation: New Regulations for Electrical and Electronic Waste
Turkey has released a new regulation for electrical and electronic waste, which will come into effect on January 1, 2024. The regulation aligns with EU regulations and categorizes devices into six categories.
Registration and reporting obligations: What manufacturers need to know
The new regulations impose obligations on manufacturers and first-timedistributors. They must register, submit quantity reports, and, if necessary, appoint an authorized representative. Participation in collection systems and payment of disposal fees are mandatory.
Collection systems in Turkey are divided into different categories, and manufacturers cannot exempt themselves from all categories through a single system. There are deviations from EU regulations, particularly in reporting embedded batteries as part of the device weight.
The different designations of WEEE categories in the collection systems lead to more complex data management for manufacturers.
Benefit from expert knowledge: Care-free exports to Turkey with tailored consulting
Although the basic structure of the Turkish WEEE regulation is similar to EU regulations, there are specific requirements and local implementations. Therefore, affected manufacturers must understand the national regulations and ensure compliance.
